Tornadoes and Chicken Liver

This week was a pretty good week for us. Busy as usual, but full of learning and growth. Last Monday we had a little bit of exciting weather that Sister Salmond and I enjoyed, although maybe we shouldn't have. The day started out cloudy but I didn't think much of it as we went out to Russellville to learn how to cook chicken and sausage gumbo. Then the rain came down hard and the Causey's weather radio went off with a tornado watch, meaning that the conditions are right for tornadoes to form. It moved from a watch to a warning, meaning a tornado had been spotted. We got a phone call from our Sister Training Leaders telling us we were on lock down and we couldn't go outside for safety reasons. We were happy we had picked last week to spend at a members' home because we had stuff to do while we were on lock down. And it was a super huge blessing because although the tornadoes were small, we were away from the excitement. The Lord protects His missionaries with simple ideas to get out of the tri-cities. There was only minor damage done to the area and nobody was seriously harmed, thank goodness.

The pictures you received were from the Red Bay elders' baptism. We never personally taught Mary, but we love her anyways. We helped with the details at the baptism that the elders really couldn't. You should have been there in the bathroom with us when she came out of the font. Mary was so happy and couldn't stop giggling and telling us this was the best decision she has ever made. She is letting the gospel change her life and I can see the difference it has made with her. We are so proud of her and I know that Heavenly Father is proud of her. It reminded me a lot of Josie's baptism; there was the same Spirit and joy here as there was in Queen Creek. It's amazing the things the Lord shows me.

We had one of our awesome ward missionaries pick us up from a team up and take us to Mary's baptism. She had stopped at KFC and picked up some food and was so shocked that I had never had fried chicken liver. She made sure that I couldn't say that again and shared some of hers with me. Now I can say I've had some of the delicacies of the South: Fried Chicken Liver. It actually wasn't that bad, but I certainly won't be going out of my way to order it.
