Alabama, Day One

So we made it to Alabama yesterday afternoon and spent time at the mission president's home with him and his sweet wife before going to the hotel. I love Sister Hanks. She is so sweet and so kind. She reminded me a lot of my mom, and it was good to have a motherly figure for at least one night after my two weeks in the MTC and having little contact with my own mother. It was a fun and spiritual evening, all at the same time.
There was a Hermana at the Atlanta airport who joined us, making a total of 18 missionaries. She was at the Mexico MTC and had been at the airport by herself since about 7 until we showed up at 1. We didn't even know about each other, but we have bonded so fast. Sister Calamity, Hermana Taylor and I all slept in the same hotel room last night and had a blast telling our MTC stories and laughing our heads off. But we were all in bed by 9:30 cause we were so tired.
Today was another bittersweet day because they split up our zone and sprinkled us all over the mission. I'm serving here in Birmingham with Sister Thorup, but I haven't been able to remember what our area is called. I'm sure time will help me to remember it, and then I won't be able to forget it!
I am truly grateful for this opportunity God has given me to serve Him and His children here in Alabama. I can't wait to see what new adventures await me!
